JAWS Scripts For MicroSIP

General Information

This page is laid out for easy navigation via JAWS:

Version Current

These are the MicroSIP scripts for JAWS. Documentation of script usage and features can be viewed by typing Insert+F1 twice in quick succession from within MicroSIP while these scripts are running.

These scripts are dynamic, meaning that updates to them will be made "in place." Newer revisions will replace older ones, and I will add change notes to this section as changes are made.

Here are the changes, most recent first. In JAWS, use the h or 3 keys to move through changes by release date, or Tab to jump straight to the download links.

Revision 66, released April 9, 2019

Revision 52, released September 12, 2017

Revision 39, released December 3, 2015

Note: There are special installation instructions for this revision due to a mistake in the original MicroSIP script uninstaller; see below. Also, this revision ends support for JAWS versions older than the latest update to JAWS 11.0.

If you meet one or more of the following conditions, you can install the MicroSIP scripts normally, just by running the installer and following directions:

If you do not meet one of the above conditions, follow the below directions to install the MicroSIP scripts without upsetting SkypeWatch:
  1. Remove the current MicroSIP scripts, either by running the uninstaller from the Start menu, or by launching the new script installer, going through the uninstallation part, then cancelling the installation before the new scripts are installed.
  2. Reinstall the Skype scripts. The latest versions of these can be found at http://www.dlee.org/skype/.
  3. Install the MicroSIP scripts by launching the new installer.

Revision 31, released November 1, 2013

This revision fixes a few installer problems. After installing this update, which will run the uninstaller for previous versions of these scripts, it may be necessary to reinstall Skype scripts if you were using those and also used SkypeWatch. This installer should work under JAWS 14 and later.

Update written on December 3, 2015: This update actually failed to fix the SkypeWatch interferance problem, but this fact was never reported for the two years during which this script revision remained current.

Revision 30, released January 18, 2013

Initial release version. These scripts provide automatic announcement of incoming calls and a keystroke (Alt+Windows+M) for handling them. These features work regardless of what application is in focus when a call arrives. In addition, these scripts provide the following features beyond those available in MicroSIP itself on Windows when MicroSIP is in focus:

Finally, these scripts add dashes to phone numbers when there is no caller ID name available for an incoming call, so the numbers are easier to understand via speech and read in Braille.
