For anyone wanting a couple of the
RS Games
sounds to be quieter, this page may be for you.
Note: You can turn all sounds up and down in the RS
Games client with F5 and F6, and you can
separately turn up and down the volume of the background music with
F3 and F4. This page provides a couple of sounds
at a quieter volume so you can make them quieter relative even to the
other sounds in the games.
The sounds provided on this page, at half their original volume (on a
linear scale), are
- farkle.ogg
- The Farkle sound in the Farkle game, for when you lose the points
in your current turn; and
- score.ogg
- The score sound in Yahtzee, for when you score and end your turn.
These sounds are considered unusually loud by many RS Games users.
To install one of the sounds, follow the directions below, or
if you prefer,
listen to an audio set of directions.
If you want to install multiple sounds, follow the directions once for
each sound.
- Download the sound you want using the above links. Make
sure to remember where you put the file. The file names are shown as
the link text for each file.
- Open the folder where the file needs to go. To do this, type or
copy the following into the Windows "Run" box, which is opened with
Windows+R, then press Enter to open the main RS Games data
folder:
%APPDATA%\ZGP
From this folder, choose and enter the folder for the
game to which the sound belongs, e.g., "Farkle" for Farkle and
"Yahtzee" for Yahtzee.
- Copy and paste the file into the game folder using the standard
Windows copy/paste commands, Ctrl+C or Ctrl+X in
the downloads folder and Ctrl+V in the game folder.
You will be prompted to replace the current version of the file.
Answer "Yes" to allow this. If you ever want the original, louder
sound back, you can always choose "Force re-download of sounds" from a
game's menu in the RS Games client.
Happy gaming!
